Born again and then die again? What is this nonsense?

OSASers tend to use this as a concept to mock the biblical fact, that one can indeed die again, in the spiritual sense, just as they can be born again.

They think that Nicodemus’ questions to Jesus in John chapter 3 verse 4 regarding Jesus’ comment that you must be born again (verses 3 and 7) and then Jesus’ response back somehow qualifies becoming “unborn” as being impossible and illogical. This thinking really is a logically fallacious shell game of concepts…

Nicodemus was asking about just the being born again concept which Jesus explained was not a physical but instead a spiritual rebirth. Therein lies the disconnect with the OSAS mentality regarding this concept. They adopt Nicodemus’ skepticism and falsely assume that in the spiritual realm the concept of being born again, in reverse, is impossible. We should all know that the physical rebirth is indeed possible and in fact it is necessary for eternal life at the end of this physical life. We should all know as well that scriptures give definite proof that one can indeed die again. After all, the soul that sinneth dies (Ezekiel 18:20) and the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). God never changed His mind on this. The remission for sins through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ was for past sins (Romans 3:25). His blood was not spilled to provide a license to sin in the future but instead it was provided for those who repented of their past sins. Sin always demands repentance or the soul dies (Ezekiel 18:20 and Romans 6:23 coupled with Luke 13:3 and 5).

Just follow the scriptural trail of proof here:

We KNOW that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, but we should also KNOW that His death required the pouring out of His blood. This blood is what gives us forgiveness (remission) for our, get this, PAST sins. So, Paul, KNOWING this, told the Church in Corinth that they should not sin. You see, some within their ranks were sinning outright and having been saved themselves they really should have KNOWN better. That is why Paul said that he spoke this to their shame. They should have KNOWN better. That is a key thing to keep in mind.

And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. [34] Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the KNOWLEDGE of God: I speak this to your shame. 1 Corinthians 15:17,34

For the naysayers regarding what sins are forgiven. Paul was clear that the past sins only are covered, not the future ones: Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: [25] Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS THAT ARE PAST, through the forbearance of God; [26] To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Romans 3:24-26

Peter also agrees with Paul in that we are purged from our past (old) sins. Peter’s 2nd epistle, especially chapter 2 spoke at length about the falling away of believers.

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was PURGED FROM HIS OLD SINS. 2 Peter 1:9

For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. [21] For it had been better for them not to have KNOWN the way of righteousness, than, after they have KNOWN it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 2 Peter 2:20-21

Remember I mentioned to keep in mind the fact we should KNOW better? Peter hit on this in a very direct manner. He literally said that those who were saved and then went back into their sin KNEW better. They KNEW that Jesus died and spilled His blood so that they could be saved. Peter said that with this they were worse off than before they were saved. Now they are heading for hell because of their present and unrepentant sin. Yes, they should KNOW better but the false teachers in Peter’s day as well as in our day are telling everyone the same lie that the serpent told Eve in the garden and that is that they can sin and not die (Genesis 3:4).

James 4:17 tells us that “Therefore to him that KNOWETH to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” This is a double whammy for a believer if they sin... They KNEW that they should not have sinned and yet they did it anyway. They did not abstain from sin, which abstaining from sin is good, right? They sinned KNOWING what Jesus did for them on the cross so that they could be forgiven of their previous sins in the first place. Repentance is required or you will die in your sins. This is why Peter said: “it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.” They are going to hell and they really should know better (see once again Ezekiel 18:20 and Romans 6:23 coupled with Luke 13:3 and 5).

Yes, one can be born again and the reverse is just as logically and biblically true in that the born again can indeed die again if they choose to sin and not repent.
