Is believing in God enough?

Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? James 2:19-20 People tend to defend sin by saying that they believe as if that is enough. It certainly is not enough for the devils and it certainly is not enough for any of us. It is clear in what Jesus taught and that is obedience is absolutely necessary. If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. John 15:14 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Hebrews 5:8-9

Did you see that? Salvation is for those who obey Him.

Sin is the antithesis to obedience.

If it's too difficult to obey Jesus then you are the one not submitting to Him as you need to be doing or rather have to be doing. While it's true he have to obey, a true believer instead is excited that they get to obey. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:30 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. 2 Corinthians 10:5-6 Jesus showed us that obedience was something absolutely possible to do through His own living in the flesh as He submitted to the Father in all things. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. John 6:38 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. 1 Corinthians 15:28 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. Hebrews 10:7 So if you still believe that believing or faith is all you need and if your faith is lacking works of obedience in God then your faith is dead. Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works...For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:17-18, and 26 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Philippians 2:12-13
