"Ye shall not surely die"

"Ye shall not surely die" continues to be believed even in today's church.

Especially in today's church... Satan in Genesis 3:4 was selling this lie from the beginning of time. Satan told a child of God, Eve, that she would not die spiritually if she disobeyed (sin) God. It is pretty much guaranteed that Adam and Eve did not subscribe to the notion of once saved always saved. Ever since that first time this lie was told by Satan, God has been emphatically telling us that if we sin and do not repent we will die spiritually as well. What Jesus did on the cross was grace for the sinner. It was for the sins that had been committed and not a license to continue on in sin moving forward. Paul said that the remission of sins was for past sins, not future sins. Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: [25] Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that (context is important! ->) are past, through the forbearance of God; Romans 3:24-25 What happens if we sin as a believer? If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 Ezekiel, a prophet of the most holy God, also was not a subscriber of the lie of once saved always saved. He warned about what happens to a believer (a righteous man) when he wilfully goes back into sin (iniquity). He dies spiritually and forever unless he repents (stops sinning). Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand. [21] Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man , that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul. Ezekiel 3:20-21 Ezekiel was not referring to someone not saved as righteous in this context means 'right with God'. Jesus reemphasized the need for repentance in order to be saved from spiritual death. And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? [3] I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. [4] Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? [5] I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 13:2-5 You can, as a believer, depart from God. This is not a strained relationship with God but a complete (departure) separation from God. Hebrews was specifically written to believers. Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. Hebrews 3:12 Do not believe the lie of Satan that you can continue on in sin and still be spiritually saved. If you do then you will have your name taken out of God's book. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. Revelation 3:5 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. [4] He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. [5] But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. [6] He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 1 John 2:3-6 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. [7] Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. [8] He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. [11] For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. 1 John 3:4-11 So we cannot give Calvin or Augustine credit for the lie of once saved always saved as Satan is, after all, the father of lies. Like Jesus said of the Pharisees for their lies, Calvin and Augustine are merely Satan's children. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. John 8:44 Calvin would be a child of the devil two times over for lying and murder. It is amazing that so many professing Christians today herald him as a great Church father and they continue to follow his blasphemous teachings.
