And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. Hebrews 5:9 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:26 If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 1 John 2:4-6 None of this says that we are saved by our works but it does say we remain saved through our faith that is proven through our works. Only through the blood of Jesus Christ is salvation possible in the first place. It is the propitiation, that which satiates the wrath of God in regards to what is owed for our sins. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. Romans 3:25 With repentance we cannot lay hold of this salvation and without works we cannot maintain it. I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 13:3 (and 5). Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Philippians 2:12
