Is it Jesus' righteousness or is it something we must do?

Are we righteous simply because someone said Jesus' righteousness was imputed to us or do we actually need to do righteousness in order to be righteous?

That is right. I said "because someone said Jesus' righteousness was imputed to us" because it certainly was not the Bible. Whatever verses you try to provide whether from Philippians or elsewhere you will have to assume into the context in order for that to be so because it simply is just not there.

Righteousness is not a matter of settling on anyone else's righteousness even Jesus Christ's.

Don't jump to conclusions but hear this out along with the provided scriptures.

Righteousness is a matter of us actually doing righteousness.

One cannot just assume that they are righteous based on the fact that Jesus is righteous.

We do righteousness or else we are not righteous and we are not born of Him.

It really comes down to exactly that.

Read the proof texts further below.

Additional related Fact: sinning has no place in righteousness at all.

If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that

-> doeth <-

righteousness

is born of him.

1 John 2:29

Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that

-> doeth <-

righteousness

is righteous,

even as he is righteous.

He that committeth sin is of the devil;

for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin;

for his seed remaineth in him:

and he cannot sin,

because he is born of God.

1 John 3:6-9
