...that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

Romans 8:1 is almost always referenced using only the first part of the verse while the second part, which sets the contextual condition for the the first part, is left out. This is done typically by OSAS proponents to justify their sinful doctrine. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus... This is often thrown out there all by itself in order to literally justify sin in the life of a professing believer. This is extremely dangerous as it gives false assurance that someone is saved when in truth they are condemned. The typical mantra goes something like, "I know I am sinning but at least I am saved and since I am in Christ Jesus I am not condemned".

That is not at all how it works...

This is how it work: ...who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Walk after the flesh (sin) = condemned Walk after the Spirit ≠ condemned There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:1 Paul, just previously in chapter 3 starting with verse 24, already clarified this. But this is another abused verse and abused for the same purpose. OSAS proponents will float verse 24 alone in order to justify themselves or others while there is unrepented sin present. They claim that they are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus (verse 24). But verse 24 absolutely has to have verse 25 in order to grasp the full context. Justification through the blood of Jesus is for past sins and it absolutely does not provide grace and justification for any present or future sins that are not repented of. Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: [25] Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; [26] To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Romans 3:24-26 No one can justify themselves if they have unrepentant sins nor can they hide behind the grace of God and think that they are not condemned while they continue on walking after the flesh. And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. Luke 16:15 OSAS sure is highly esteemed among men but is abomination in the sight of God. Twisting scriptures plays a huge part in this by OSAS proponents as proven above. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:1

Go and walk after the flesh and do not ever justify sin at any level. God hates and will not allow it near Him and we should do the same.
