Sin

Here are the basic facts regarding sin. The first sin committed by mankind was doubting God's word. The second was eating the forbidden fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The third was one person tempting another person to sin. (Genesis 2:16-17 and Genesis 3:1-6). Sin is rooted in and dependant on knowing what is right and what is wrong or in other words the knowledge of good and evil, hence the tree in the garden at the beginning. This is all according to God's standard of what good and evil is. Sin is first and foremost abstract as it begins in the mind and then it often but not always moves into the physical realm where it is physically committed. Eve's first sin was abstract in that she doubted God's word and her second sin was physical in that she ate of the forbidden fruit. Sin is thus both abstract and physical. It is always abstract and very often it transitions to the physical. Being abstract in nature sin is also considered as committed even if nothing at all is physically done. If one knows that something good can be and should be done then it ought to be done. If one does nothing in these cases then that qualifies as sin. (James 4:17) The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23 and Ezekiel 18:20 ) unless one repents of sins that have been committed in the past whether in the mind only or by the mind and through the hands. Future sins are not forgiven by repenting of sins not yet committed in the present. Repentance in the present can only address past sins that have already been committed. (Romans 3:25 and Luke 13:2-5) And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: [17] But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
