God clearly was calling His children through Ezekiel to repent and stop sinning so that they would live. These were His chosen children but by their own freewill they chose to separate themselves from God and thus were spiritually dead. Once saved, always saved and could get saved again (OSAS...ACGSA)...if they would only repent and stop sinning. Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? [32] For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord God : wherefore turn yourselves , and live ye. Ezekiel 18:31-32 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
