Once saved would be the proper context for what was once his condition, literally. Then he fell. Now people have constructed doctrines just so they can convince themselves that it could never happen to them. Disobeying God is sin. Sin equals death, unless you repent. I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 13:3 an 6 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 ...the soul that sinneth, it shall die. Ezekiel 18:4 and 20 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. [7] Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. [8] He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. [9] Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1 John 3:6-9
