Warm fuzzies or fear???

Worship is not just the music.

Actually, the majority if not all verses containing the word worship refers to several things (falling down prostrate, etc...) without a real specific reference to music. This doesn't mean we can't worship with music as we can certainly can praise God with music. The point is, it should not be an overarching focus but a small part of our actual worship. While it is a small part of worship it still should be more than just a feeling experience. In fact feelings can and will mislead... "Worship" in the modern churches today is sadly lacking a genuine fear of God. People make a big mistake thinking that feeling good about worship is somehow a sign of the Holy Spirit working. It's a spirit alright only it's not holy. There are plenty of sins out there that can make you feel good. How can we trust our feelings to be the litmus test for God's Spirit working? We really shouldn't. Worship should be more about fear and trembling before the One True and Holy God and it certainly needs to be biblically accurate.

Worship needs to be done in spirit and truth instead of a carnal pursuit of warm fuzzies... But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. Psalm 5:7 This following one amazes me that modern worship insists on only using Psalm 95 verses 6 and 7 and they leave out verses 8 through 11. Doing so they provide only a partial truth of the intended message. In essence it is lacking spirit and truth. I suppose this probably happens because those other verses bring fear instead of warm fuzzies. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. [7] For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, [8] Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: [9] When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. [10] Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: [11] Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest. Psalm 95:6-11 O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth. Psalm 96:9 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. [24] God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24
