The whole truth and nothing but the truth…

Joel Osteen and others like him, when pressed publicly on the core components of the gospel regarding sin and salvation, opt to remain silent or offer shallow answers. This demonstrates that they is ashamed of the gospel of Christ. It appears that they would rather keep the seats filled and the money coming in rather than preach the full council of God at every given opportunity. If they offered the entire gospel then their numbers would indeed fall as we all should know by God’s word that narrow is the way to life and few there be that find it.

Sadly their messages ensures that few will find life.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 2 Timothy 4:2-4

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. 1 Peter 3:15-17

Joel Osteen’s specific actions demonstrate that he would rather people not speak evil of him. He is not preaching in and out of season and refuses to be ready always to give an answer.

He is a peddler of unsound doctrine and his words and actions prove this in light of God’s word. He preaches to those with itching ears.

Please do not fall prey to anyone like Joel who do not preach the whole truth and nothing but the truth, regardless of the outcome.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever.
