If it’s true it’s not new and if it’s new it’s not true.

The cry of many professing Christians today is “Entertain us! ... Itch our ears!”

They are much like the Athenians who spent their time always looking for something new.

I had a friend like this who would always ask me, “Do you have anything new?” He was always thirsty for more than what the Word of God had to offer. He wanted something outside of the Word of God.

For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing. Acts 17:21

What we have today is a multitude of professing Christians with itching ears. They, much like my friend from time’s past, would rather have their ears itched with something new instead of being diligent with a sincere desire in keeping their ears guarded yet open for the truth alone. This can only be found in the word of God as this is indeed the more sure word of prophecy which has already been made available to us and this is not something new.

My friend's constant desire for some new thing led him into apostasy.

If it’s true it’s not new and if it’s new it’s not true.

The danger of itching ears is that it will lead one away from God’s word not towards it.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 2 Timothy 4:3-4

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:19-21

Question, do you worship the day? I guess the follow up qualifying question would be, are you a humanist who worships yourself? Seems...
