What are words for?

Mass is the Christian Eucharist or Holy Communion...in the Roman Catholic Church.

Christmas: late Old English Cristes mæsse, from Christ (and retaining the original vowel sound) + mass. (see https://www.etymonline.com/word/christmas)

Words do have meaning yet some look the other way when it is convenient...

Etymology is important as well. We apply this concept in our Bible studies in regards to names or with words in general but we do not have this same depth of consistency in our everyday lives as we should.

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22

My point here is dig in deep in regards to what you are celebrating and why. You may argue that you are not Catholic so you do not see an issue with this. Study to shew thyself approved and look deeper into the roots of the day as well as the Bible's take on our celebrating it...

Don't get mad at me but instead check it out for yourself. Once you realize the compromises that go along with participating you will get much freedom from letting go. You may have started with Halloween now be consistent and prove out the other holidays and see what you can be freed from and all for the Glory of God.
