Forget about those statues, focus on God...

Believers in God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ should not be for nor against this whole deal regarding Confederate statutes.

Reason being is the time and energy being spent in fixating on these statutes, etc. causes the issue to creep into the realm of violating Exodus 20 verses 4 and 5a where God said:

"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them...".

We should be fixated completely on what God said in the previous verse, verse 3, where He said:

"Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

Anything that consumes more of your time than the time you commit to God constitutes as another god and not the one true God.
